Great piece Trev as always! It's a real shame that Nicke didn't leave us on a high. He will always be one of my all time favourite Bees just behind Akinde,Grazioli & on a par with Luisma. As you know I have watched the Bees for over 50 years so I go back to Roger Figg,Les Eason & Billy Meadows too!
Thanks Ian! His record is his high for me, I think had his performances this season been of the last two years standard he doesn't get sold, but I think maybe, just maybe, there wasn't much more to come?
I don't think he's particularly out of form. I think he was carrying a knock for the opening 2 games and then he was out injured, (with whatever knock he was carrying), and I think he's looked a little sluggish all season and I wonder how much pre-season he missed, (due to whatever knock he was carrying). I half expected him to fail his medical.
Wish him all the best though. Walker, Okimo, Gorman, Pritch, Kabamba. They are the core of the DB squad that gave us our club back. They will all live long in the memory. Okimo the only one with us now, and no longer really a player. Really can't overstate the impact these 5 players had on the club.
I don't think he was Jim. There was no indication during the Ebbsfleet match he was carrying anything, the injury occurred as far as I'm aware in that match, I don't recall him missing much of pre-season if any? Having checked, just one match he missed which was Chelmsford.
Agree he's looked sluggish and for me on the edge of games instead of impacting them, given what we know he's capable of. Was there any more for him to give? Question we'll never know that full answer to, on the surface the deal appears good for all parties if we get that second striker in the door.
Absolutely, those five players came in at a time when needed and gave the club back it's identity, but as football is, it doesn't stand still or you get overtaken.
Well I am with you Trevor, sorry to see him go and a great servant to the club but football like players move on. Some are forgotten more quickly than others and what Nickie did during his time at Barnet during his stay will be remembered for a long time. Big man in stature, big man in personality.
Spot on David! A record for goals that has him up there with the best and one of those who brought joy back to supporting Barnet, and as you say football moves on all the time, next one please!

Totally agree
Sad to see him go but great for both parties
Yes Bruce, if we see a second striker arrive following Lee Ndlovu then it's an excellent piece of business.

Hi Trevor,

Is that on the main www.footballwriting.co.uk site David? The Barnet one is a free site
No it was the paid site which appears at the foot of your blog.
The coffee buying? That's the only bit I put at the bottom of the Barnet blogs, is that what you mean?
No I subscribed to all of your blogs and paid the annual fee of £60.00.
